Drawing and Painting
La Habra High School is a destination school in the district for Drawing & Painting, a class where students explore ideas and techniques of visual expression through a variety of three-dimensional media. Students are challenged to think creatively and problem-solve as they design and build original artworks. Students will develop skills in graphite, charcoal, scratchboard, watercolor, acrylic, linear perspective, portraiture, color theory, and more. Intermediate-level students build on previous skills, while also exploring new media such as oil painting, printmaking, advertising, abstraction, and pen & ink. Advanced (AP) level students select their own topic to guide the development of a portfolio of artworks that is submitted to the AP for grading. Students at all levels are provided the opportunity to display their artworks at the end of each semester in a gallery showcase.
